Partnership Gives 15,000 Undergraduate Students Access to Entire Collection of MyLab and Mastering Products
Sam Houston State University (SHSU) and Pearson have partnered to provide personalized learning products to 15,000 undergraduate students. Under the agreement, SHSU students will have full access to the entire collection of more than 80 MyLab and Mastering products from Pearson.
A critical challenge that MyLab and Mastering products address is they assist colleges and universities struggling with the issue of college readiness and the growing demand for developmental skills courses. A number of Pearson’s most popular MyLab products enable this audience to be successful, including MyMathLab, MyReadingLab, and MyWritingLab.
Part of the Texas State University System, SHSU has more than 18,400 students across 80 undergraduate, 59 master’s and six doctoral degree programs. As a component of the university’s Student Success Initiative, SHSU has leveraged MyLab and Mastering products, which have led to improved student results. Starting in January 2013, SHSU undergraduates enrolled in a participating course will have complete access to the corresponding MyLab and Mastering product.

MyLab and Mastering are fully customizable and can be used in any environment — lab-based, blended, fully online learning or classroom. Educators can easily create, import, and manage online homework, tutorials, and assets. Students receive immediate feedback on their work, which motivates them to spend more time doing homework. The automatic gradebook frees educators to spend less time grading and more time working directly with their students. MyLab and Mastering is available in more than 80 subjects, including math, science, engineering, humanities, social sciences, world languages and business disciplines. More than 10 million students have used MyLab and Mastering in 2012. Integrated use of these programs has been proven to provide measurable gains in student retention, subsequent success, and overall achievement.
